He who sings, prays twice.
St. Augustine

Grace Church Choir

“It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name O Most High” Psalm 92:1 (NKJV)

The Choir of Grace Church is made up of approximately 25 devoted choristers who sing for the 10:00 am Eucharist every Sunday.  We draw on singers from our own church, as well as from performing groups such as the Chicago Choral Artists, the William Ferris Chorale, and the Teolis Chorale.  Our repertoire consists of quality music from the 16th through the 21st centuries, and discovery of new music is always met with excitement.  This is a choir that enjoys a challenge, and over the years these challenges have strengthened and developed our musical standards.

In addition to singing the Sunday morning Eucharist, the choir also presents several services of Choral Evensong each year, sometimes based upon a theme, such as our Harvest Home Evensong, modelled after the harvest services in England.  We also sing a service of Lessons and Carols for Advent, in which the choir moves through the church in candlelit darkness towards the East and to the Light of Christ.  We have enjoyed sharing this service with other choirs who joined us at Grace, as well as taking the service "on the road" to share it with other churches.

The Grace Church Choir welcomes any singer who would like to join us.  The main requirement is the ability to attend rehearsals, and to love music enough to be willing to really work on it!

Listen to the Grace Church Choir in these short clips:

Howells -- Magnificat (Collegium Regale)

Hilton -- Lord for thy Tender Mercies Sake

Ippolitov-Ivanoff -- Bless the Lord

And if you have a little time, please listen to our 2012 Procession with Lessons and Carols for Advent held on December 2.  We were privileged to have the Hinsdale Chorale join us for this special service.
