Grace Episcopal Churchwomen (GEC)

Through mission and ministry, the women of Grace Church work together to make God's love known in the world. All women of the church are invited to participate in a year of activities and projects that will engage their hearts and challenge them to make a difference in their homes, their church, their community and the world.

In the past, every two years the GEC creates and manages The Grace Church Decorators' Show House of Hinsdale.

The most recent was Show House 2004.

In the beginning…

The Grace Episcopal Churchwomen would like to thank Marti Smith for having the brilliant idea 16 years ago that a great way to raise funds, while at the same time restoring the rectory, would be to have a showcase house.  At the time, none of us knew anything about a showcase house or where to begin.  However, a little over one year later, with Marti’s help and the help of designers who had been involved in other show houses, the GEC presented “The Rectory” in the fall of 1988.

Today we thank hundreds of volunteers, both parishioners and non-parishioners, who support our project and bring to you “The Hinckley House” our 10th featured estate.  Our established tradition, held biennially, provides us an opportunity to participate in the restoration and preservation of a vintage Hinsdale home, support local commerce, showcase talented designers, and most importantly, raise funds for families and children in need.  It is a great community building experience.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to this wonderful home, your attendance as our guests is what truly makes this project a success, and we sincerely thank you again for your support.
